Two days were added to the beginning of the Russian Open tournament, where after the duration will be 13-18 September 2011 instead of 15-18 September 2011. A total of 4 squads have been added, two on 13 September and two on 14 September, all with the primary purpose to attract youth players to the tournament.
The tournament will be held at 30-lane Cosmik Belaya Dacha bowling center in Moscow, Russia. The Russian Open offers total prize fund of € 25000. The champion will receive the € 5500 top prize, the runner-up earns € 3800 and the third-place finisher gets € 2500.
Qualifying runs from Thursday through Saturday and concludes with Squad 12 September 17 at 9 p.m. and ends with the ultimate one-game Desperado Squad on Saturday night slated for 00.30 p.m. Women receive 8 pins handicap each game, a standard on the European Bowling Tour.
A total of 36 players will qualify for the Russian Open finals on Sunday, Sept. 18:
• the top 32 players from the overall qualifying standings
• and the top 4 from the Desperado Squad.
Last yest the tournament was named as 1st Pavlovsky Posad Open and was held September 13-19 in Pavlovsky Posad of Moscow region. The bowlers from 8 countries was participated in the event, and Russia’s Ivan Semenov won the top prise. In 2011 the number of participants is forecasted to be larger.
Bowling center Cosmic Belaya Dacha, which will host the tournament, was opened in December 2007. The 30-laner equipped with Brunswick Anvilane Pro Lane with Brunswick Vector scoring system, Brunswick GS-X pinsetters and Brunswick Score King pins is one of the largest bowling centers in Moscow. It is situated in the popular shopping center Mega Belaya Dacha.
